Boarding

boardingBoarding Policy at Sanatoga Animal Hospital

Only our own clients can schedule boarding services for their pet(s) and the patient(s) must be current on all requirements prior to boarding. Please call us at the time of planning for your vacations so that we can ensure that your pet is current on all requirements and that boarding is available for the dates you need.

For dog-owners, if you plan on boarding your dog in the near future, the patient must be current on Physical Exam, Heartworm & Lyme Test, Heartworm prevention, Rabies vaccine, DA2P Vaccine, Canine Influenza Vaccine, Bordetella Vaccine, Tick & Flea prevention, and any required lab work. Protection against heartworm disease and intestinal parasites is imperative for your dog, year-round. Ideally vaccines should be administered at least 3 days prior to boarding, for immunity to be conferred. If vaccines weren't provided by Sanatoga Animal Hospital you must provide official medical records & Rabies vaccine certificate at time of boarding.

For cat-owners, if you plan on boarding your cat in the near future, the patient must be current on the Physical Exam, Rabies vaccine, FVRCP vaccine, tick & flea prevention, and any required lab work if applicable or if recommended by your veterinarian. Ideally vaccines should be administered at least 3 days prior to boarding, for immunity to be conferred. If vaccines weren't provided by Sanatoga Animal Hospital you must provide official medical records & Rabies vaccine certificate at time of boarding.

Pets may be dropped off /picked up between 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM or 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM Monday through Friday, and between 9AM to 12:30 PM on Saturdays. Pets may not be dropped off or picked up on Sundays.

If your pet regularly takes medications prescribed or recommended by your veterinarian, that medicine must be provided in enough quantity for the full duration of boarding period otherwise it will be refilled upon authorization from veterinarian on duty at your expense. We exclusively use our own hospital linens and food bowls / water bowls to guarantee quality of hygiene and sanitation for the safety of your pet according to AAHA guidelines. If you still decide to send along any personal belongings, all items must be legibly labeled with your name and your pet's name. Sanatoga Animal Hospital is not responsible for the potential loss or damage to any personal belongings, including but not limited to blankets, toys, food storage containers, leashes, collars etc, that are brought to the hospital with your pet.

We highly recommend all our patients to remain on flea and tick preventative year round, especially due to the unpredictability of flea population rates due to climate change. If your pet is not current on their flea and tick preventative it is possible they may not be permitted to board. Under any circumstances, Sanatoga Animal Hospital is not to be held responsible in the rare occasion that your pet may contract ticks and or fleas during their boarding stay with us. In the rare event that your pet is found to have ticks or fleas during their stay, they will be treated promptly at the owner's expense.
